Admit That You're a Sinner

Before we can accept the good news of salvation in Jesus Christ, we have to admit that we need saving.  We must recognize that we have sinned against God.

Romans 3:23 tells us that we have all sinned against God. There is nothing we can do to earn our way back to Him.

Isaiah 59:2 tells us that our sin separates us from God.  He is holy and must judge sin.

Romans 6:23 tells us that we earn death by our sin.  This death is an eternal separation from God and His love.

Believe That Jesus Died and Rose Again

Once we have admitted that we are sinners, the good news comes into focus.  We must believe that Jesus is God, that He came in the flesh to die for our sins, and that He rose again to give us eternal life.

The second part of Romans 6:23 tells us that God made a way for us to have life through Jesus Christ.

Romans 5:8 and John 3:16 tell us that God did this because of His love for us.  Jesus never sinned, yet He died for our sins. Three days later He rose from the dead proving that our sins were paid for.

Confess That Jesus Is Lord

Romans 10:9 tells us that we must tell someone that we believe Jesus is Lord (that means that He is God the Son) and that God the Father raised Him from the dead.

Saying this is simple, but you must actually believe it to be saved.  Romans 10:10 tells us that this confession begins in the heart then we speak what we believe.

Romans 10:13 and John 6:37 tell us that we can be sure that we are saved when we come to Jesus in faith.  He will not cast away any who come to Him.

This decision for Jesus to be your Savior is a commitment to Him.  We who believe in Him are transformed by His Holy Spirit, are given a family (His church)  to help us learn, grow, and heal, and we have a duty to bring others to our great Savior!
